Visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Sunday 19 April 2025 | 1.00pm – 5.00pm

Begin your conference experience with a relaxed afternoon exploring one of Brisbane’s most iconic attractions, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

Departing South Bank at 1.00pm, enjoy a short 20‑minute coach journey to the world’s oldest and largest koala sanctuary.

Set along the picturesque Brisbane River, Lone Pine offers a unique opportunity to experience Australia’s native wildlife in a tranquil, natural setting.

During your visit, you’ll have time to explore the sanctuary grounds and see some of Australia’s most beloved animals, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and native birdlife. This half‑day experience provides the perfect opportunity to unwind, explore, and enjoy a taste of Australian wildlife before the conference begins.

The group will return to South Bank by approximately 5.00pm, allowing delegates time to prepare for the official conference programme.

The 2026 IDS Congress will be held on the traditional lands for the Turrbal and Jagera/Yuggera Peoples, and we respect their spiritual relationship with their country. The IDS and ADS acknowledge that the Turrbal and Jagera/Yuggera Peoples are the custodians of Brisbane City, and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still important to the living Turrbal and Jagera/Yuggera Peoples today. We pay our respects to Elders both past, present, and emerging and to the members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
